Amari’s Micro Miracle Project was established unofficially back in 2011 when my husband and I had our daughter Amari Budhoo. She was born May 27th, 2010 weighing only 1 pound 7 ounces. As a micro preemie she stayed in the NICU for about 3 months at Winnie Palmer hospital. She overcame several obstacles and was eventually able to come home weighing 4 pounds. As parents we went through this journey going back and forth to the hospital and experiencing the challenge of having a preemie baby, we want to help encourage others parent in the same situation. We provide care packages for parents of preemies who are in the NICU. We created Amari’s Micro Miracle Project to empower parents of premature babies to help improve outcomes for their preemies and themselves. We are committed to ensure that no parent goes through the preemie journey alone.

Our Mission
To encourage, support, and guide families who experience the challenges of premature birth. We connect with the healthcare community and parents of preemies in order to enhance the well-being of the babies and families.
A pregnancy normally lasts about 40 weeks. Some risk factors for a preterm birth include having a previous preterm birth and being pregnant with multiples.
2. What weight is considered preemie?
Babies born before 37 weeks
Babies born before 37 weeks of pregnancy are considered premature or born too early. Many premature babies also weigh less than 5 pounds, 8 ounces (2,500 grams). They may be called low birth weight.
